Irish private school advertises for UK pupils
Clongowes Wood College, a boarding school for boys aged 12 to 18 in Clane, County Kildare, has embarked on an advertising campaign in the UK to attract parents concerned about Labour’s plans to add VAT to school fees, the Mail Online has reported
The ad states: “Reconsidering school options for your son? Our fees are exempt from VAT, and lower than UK school fees.”
Clongowes stated its fees start at £20,411 for pupils entering first, second or third year, and £23,508 for older pupils. Discounts apply for two or more brothers.
Ireland’s Revenue Commissioners states: “The provision of children’s or young people’s education, school or university education or vocational training or retraining by recognised schools, colleges and universities is exempt from VAT.”
