Ofsted downgrades school for not teaching LGBT requirements

  • 19th March 2025

Beis Malka Girls’ School, a Chasidic Jewish independent school in Stamford Hill, London has been downgraded from Good to Requires improvement by Ofsted because it doesn’t teach pupils about LGBT awareness, The Jewish Chronicle has reported.

Beis Malka teaches more than 580 pupils aged from two to 16.

Ofsted’s report said the school taught “the importance of treating everyone equally and with respect”, but didn’t ensure secondary-age pupils were givem “all the required information about respectful relationships.”

Pupils are not taught about “the legal rights of all people” protected under equality law. “As a result, pupils are not prepared fully for adulthood.”
