Independent school Wellington College in Crowthorne, Berkshire has announced it is opening an international school in the US, The Pie News has reported.

The school has purchased Airbnb’s former offices in San Francisco as the location for its bilingual Hiba Academy which is scheduled to open in 2026 teaching 400 pupils from kindergarten through to Grade 8 in both English and Chinese.

Jane Camblin, managing director, Hiba Academy Bay Area, said: “After a year of searching, we are thrilled to have found a beautiful building in an ideal location to launch Hiba’s first US venture and are proud to be well on our way to bringing our world-class programmes in a purpose-built, state-of-the art facility to students in the San Francisco Bay Area.”

Wellington College has a growing portfolio of schools overseas located in China, Thailand and India.
