Dr Sarah Tullis

The Abbey School, a private selective day school for girls in Reading, Berkshire, has appointed Dr Sarah Tullis as its next head, starting in September, Yahoo News has reported.

Tullis has a PhD from Oxford and has worked in leadership roles at Wycombe Abbey, an independent boarding school in Buckinghamshire for girls aged 11 to 18.

Tullis said: “The Abbey is a high-achieving school, but it’s not just about the result – it’s about how we get there. Curiosity, fun and happiness should be at the core of education.

“When girls are given autonomy in their education, they develop resilience and confidence that stays with them for life.

“I want The Abbey to be known as a school where students are happy, empowered and truly prepared for their futures.”
