Wellesley Haddon Dene appoints headmaster

Duncan Andrews
Private day preparatory school Wellesley Haddon Dene in Broadstairs, Kent, has appointed Duncan Andrews as its new headmaster, starting in April.
Andrews previously worked at the Merlin School in Putney, Wetherby Pre-Preparatory School in Kensington, and most recently as deputy head at St Faith’s Prep School in Kent. He is a newly trained ISI team inspector.
Andrews said: “My family and I are thrilled to be joining Wellesley Haddon Dene and as headmaster I am eager to immerse myself in this dynamic school community. From my visits, I have been inspired by the warmth, ambition and commitment to excellence that is evident in every aspect of school life.
“I am particularly excited to build on the school’s outstanding 11-plus provision, which has seen over 90% of pupils secure places at their chosen grammar schools. I look forward to working closely with staff, parents and pupils to ensure every child thrives academically and personally, equipping them with the skills and confidence needed for the 11-plus and beyond. Together, we will continue to nurture a love of learning, build a culture of excellence, and inspire the next generation of leaders and innovators.”
The school’s interim headmistress Lisa Harries, who is leaving at the end of the academic year, said: “As I prepare to hand over the leadership of Wellesley Haddon Dene, I am filled with pride at all we have achieved together as a school community. It has been an honour to serve as interim headmistress, and I am confident that under Duncan Andrews’ guidance, the school will continue to flourish, inspiring every child to reach their fullest potential.”
