Francis Holland to open girls’ prep school
Francis Holland Schools Trust is opening Francis Holland Preparatory School in Chelsea.
From September, Francis Holland’s Junior School at Sloane Square will become Francis Holland Preparatory School and relocate to a Victorian Grade II listed building, just off the King’s Road.
The property has more than double the space currently occupied by the junior school and will accommodate 100 more girls. The prep school will become two form entry with class sizes of 20, teaching 280 pupils by September 2026.
Patrick Sherrington, chair of Francis Holland Schools Trust, said: “The acquisition of this iconic building close by in Chelsea enables us to expand the junior school to two form entry, providing additional high-quality space for our junior pupils and at the same time allowing the senior school to develop yet further. The trust is confident that this will provide our current and prospective pupils with the very best experience at their junior school and the best possible preparation for their chosen senior schools.”
Francis Holland Prep is a 20,000 square foot building which dates back to 1890 and is currently the home of The Hampshire School. Facilities include the old Chelsea library, a spacious school hall with staging and backstage space for performing arts, a specialist science lab, an art room and an extensive outdoor play area.
