Blenheim Schools has acquired 12 UK schools from Cognita.

The schools are: Akeley Wood School in Buckingham, Clifton Lodge School in Ealing, West London, Cumnor House Schools for Boys and Girls in Croydon, Soth London, Duncombe School in Hertford, Hendon Prep School in North London, Huddersfield Grammar School in West Yorkshire, Hydesville Tower School in Walsall in the West Midlands, Meoncross School in Stubbington, Hampshire, Milbourne Lodge School in Esher, Surrey, Oakfields Prep School in Upminster, Essex, Quinton House School in Upton, Northampton, and St Margaret’s Prep School in Gosfield, Essex.

A Cognita spokesperson said: “In view of our rapid expansion internationally over the last few years, we have taken the strategic decision to rebalance our UK portfolio of schools in line with our wider strengths and in the long-term interests of these school communities.

“As we’ve developed into a global leader in education that operates in over 20 countries, our focus and capabilities are now better suited to supporting larger schools in major population centres. At the same time, new providers have emerged in the UK with the expertise to support a diverse range of schools that provide a more tailored focus. We believe these 12 schools will be well served under their stewardship.

“Cognita is a leader in UK education, and that will not change. We remain firmly committed to the UK. This strategic shift will enable us to continue to improve our current education offering and acquire and nurture more schools that fit with our global model, laying a robust foundation for our future.

“It is a real tribute to the reputation of our schools and our colleagues within them that they have engaged interest from other providers. Over the coming months, we will be focusing on our school communities to ensure a smooth and effective transition.”
