Teaching unions have warned the Labour Party that its plan to charge VAT on school fees could result in some private schoolteachers losing their jobs and schools downgrading their Teacher Pension Scheme offer, The Telegraph has reported.

Education unions are said to have held private meetings with Labour Party officials in which they have voiced concerns about what the policy may entail for their members working in independent schools.
