Exclusive: Dukes expands into mainland Europe with ULIS acquisition
Premium private schools operator Dukes Education has made its first deal outside of the UK with the acquisition of United Lisbon International School (ULIS).
ULIS has a large campus located in central Lisbon, which includes outdoor areas, sports facilities, a library, a theatre, science labs and art workshops. The school offers international educational programmes for grades 11 and 12, as well as extra-curricular activities and project-based learning with a focus on science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) subjects.
Established in 2015 by founder and chairman Aatif Hassan, Dukes Education operates a network of boarding and day colleges, schools and nurseries based across the UK.
The company has rapidly grown and expanded over the years both organically and through a series of acquisitions, including the recent purchase of three Hove Village Day Nurseries settings and the acquisition of InvestIN, a provider of career programmes and guidance.
