Plan to move school scrapped
Plans to move Ashford School in East Hill, Kent, to nearby Great Chart have been scrapped
Ashford School is an independent, co-educational day and boarding school for children aged from three months to 18 years.
The school had planned to sell land which would make way for more than 1,000 homes and use the proceeds to build a new state-of-the-art secondary school campus three miles away on farmland it owns next to its prep site, in Great Chart.
However, after nine months and consultations with the local council, Hannah Strassburg, the schools alumni and development manager, has written to parents to say the school has “decided not to pursue this option further” as it is too costly.
