Shrewsbury School applies to build new boarding facilities
Shrewsbury School has applied to Shropshire Council for permission for an extension and internal alterations to its existing boarding facilities for pupils at The Grove House, the Shropshire Star has reported.
Shrewsbury is a co-educational boarding and day school for pupils aged 13 to 18.
The building in question already forms part of the school’s site. In a design and access statement accompanying the application the school stated: “Over the past 450 years, the school has established and maintained a world-class reputation. However, if it is to continue to thrive it must plan ahead to ensure it meets future needs.”
The proposed extension would provide 16 single-bed dorms including new shared washrooms.
