Special education needs provider The Aurora Group has acquired Aurora Ivy Lane School in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, an independent day school specialising in educating aged 11-to-19 year old pupils with learning disabilities, autism and complex care needs.

The Department for Education (DfE) has since granted permission for the school to increase its student numbers from 27 to 40. The DfE’s decision came shortly after Ofsted inspected the school, approving the quality of the transition and noting that staff welcomed the acquisition.

The Aurora Group’s strategy director Dan Slater said: “Aurora Ivy Lane School is a great addition to our portfolio of 18 schools and colleges and extends The Aurora Group’s offer into West Yorkshire. We’re delighted it retained its Good rating from Ofsted and look forward to being able to support more students at the service.”
