Independent West Sussex prep school, Windlesham House, has launched an elite sporting academy combining expert coaching with high-class facilities, to help talented pupils become county and national level athletes.

Spanning four sports, the academy will promote a range of sporting disciplines across swimming, golf, tennis and equestrian. The academy features a gym, a five-lane swimming pool and a nine-hole golf course.

The academy will also provide professional sport-specific coaching, strength and conditioning led by a former GB hockey player and current GB athlete, mindset coaching with a former professional cricketer, and a programme allowing pupils to visit, and have visits from, top coaches and athletes across Europe.

Ben Evans, headmaster at Windlesham House School said: “Helping our young people to flourish and reach their full potential is something we are passionate about as a school. The aim of the academy is ultimately to nurture the sports people of the future, so that they develop both the physical and mental ability to perform to their best, stay in their sport and reach for their dreams.”

Richard Harrison, academies leader at Windlesham House School, added: “The academy seeks to develop high-performing, fully rounded young athletes in a variety of sporting fields. Athletes that are physically and mentally capable, are more likely to go on to compete at the highest levels in their chosen sport and achieve scholarships to top senior schools, as well as using sport as a vehicle throughout their lives.”

Windlesham is a day and boarding prep school for boys and girls aged four to 13 years.
