Epsom College has appointed Sir Anthony Seldon to be its new headteacher following the shocking murder of former headteacher Emma Pattison, The Telegraph has reported.

Sir Anthony is the former headmaster of Brighton College in East Sussex and Wellington College in Berkshire and takes his new post of 1 March. He plans to stay on for the 2023-24 academic year, with a new headteacher taking over in September next year.

Sir Anthony said: “I am committed to ensuring that Emma’s legacy is honoured and that Epsom College moves forward in the manner she intended. This is what Emma would have wanted for all the pupils and staff she had worked with, supported, and for whom she had such high hopes.

“Emma was driven, ambitious and courageous – there is no better way to respect her memory than for Epsom College to forge ahead and embody the values that guided her life.”

Pattison and her seven-year-old daughter Lettie were killed this month in a suspected murder-suicide at the hands of husband, George who was also found dead.
